Autumn Crutching 2016

We have spent this week in the woolshed giving some of our ewes (& wethers) a haircut (otherwise known as crutching).

Our shearing team is getting through about 1500 sheep a day depsite the unseasonably warm weather we've been having.

Below are some of the sheep waiting their turn in the yards this morning.

This year's crutching team of 3 includes the inspirational Amanda (pictured in the foreground). Amanda has overcome a broken back to return to shearing alongside her family. That's Sal on the broom, a current UNE student who often comes out to Stanley Vale to give us a hand during busy times.
Post-crutching and ready to head back to the paddock.
