QLD weekly cattle summary

Yardings rise

Consignments lifted in Queensland this week, with 18,694 yarded by the conclusion of Thursdays markets, with a further 2,600 head expected to sell at CQLX Gracemere tomorrow.

Dalby and Roma Store yarded 5,863 head and 7,831 head, respectively, while supply at Emerald lifted to 2,000 head. Roma Prime yarded 828 head, up around 200 head week-on-week, while Warwick consigned 1,055 head. Both Toowoomba markets yarded similar supplies week-on-week.

Grown cattle prices rise

Most C2 calves to restockers were 21¢ lower, averaging 317¢, while D2 lines were 4¢ cheaper, on 285¢/kg. Light weight D2 vealer steers to restockers were unchanged, on 289¢, while C2 vealer heifers of the same weight to slaughter eased 2¢, to 289¢/kg.

Light weight C2 yearling steers to restocker edged 2¢ lower, to 312¢, while medium weights to feed on were 11¢ dearer, on 313¢/kg. Heavy weight C3 yearling steers to feed averaged 313¢/kg, to be firm. Light weight D2 yearling heifers to restockers were 5¢ higher, on 282¢, while medium weight C3 lines to feed were 15¢ dearer, on 304¢/kg.

Heavy weight C4 grown steers to slaughter were 11¢ higher, on 302¢, while C4 bullocks to slaughter gained 8¢, to 306¢/kg. Medium weight D2, D3 and D4 score cows to slaughter sold from 148¢ to 266¢, while heavy weight D4 lines to slaughter lifted 6¢, to average 265¢/kg.
