1950's

After buying rams at the Armidale Ram Sale for a period of time after the war brothers Jack, Frank and Kevin Bower and their Dad established the Stanley Vale Merino Stud. Word of mouth and consistently good wool sales saw the Stanley Vale Stud reputation grow and soon the Bowers were selling rams to many local clients through on farm sales and the Armidale Ram Sale. Stanley Vale rams were known for their good confirmation, staple length and bright stylish wool.

Whilst Jack eventually went to farm in Glen Innes, Kevin and Jack have spent their lives in the New England, with the occasional trip to Sydney to play competitive tennis. Even now at 90 years of age, Kevin and his wife, Joan, are fixtures at the annual Stanley Vale on-property ram sale. After meeting and falling in love at a local dance, Kevin brought his new wife down the mountain from Guyra to settle in Uralla. They went on to have four daughters and one son, Timothy “Tim”.
